World Series Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-match series drew over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total American viewership reached 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09M viewers, an 8% rise compared to last year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen different tongues.
