The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
