Despite entering their maiden European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the last 16, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This match offered a platform for several Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match against a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.
Dominance Asserted from the Start
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the protests.
Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.
The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
