A Number of Affected as Rough Air Hits Delta Aircraft into Sydney, Australia
Several people were hurt following a Delta Airlines aircraft from Los Angeles to Sydney was hit by significant turbulence this past Friday.
Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a company official stated. A number of the onboard staff sustained injuries.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they evaluated a total of five people, and took a trio to a medical facility with minor injuries that such as spinal discomfort and head pain. The injured ranged from their 30s to 70s.
It is the latest incident of planes experiencing atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists pointing out that shifting climate patterns is a major factor.
There were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson added, stating that the plane arrived "safely" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday morning.
Paramedics reported they were alerted just a mere three minutes prior to the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac.
